Beeswax in candle making section suitable for lip balms?

I went around looking for beeswax yesterday (for a lip balm I wanted to make) and could only find some in the candle making section of a craft store. Is this beeswax suitable for making lip balm, or any other body products?Beeswax in candle making section suitable for lip balms?
The links below are to sites with recipes for using candle stubs to make lip balm! Yes, as long as it's plain beeswax with no chemical additives, it's the same stuff. If you're concerned and you have a natural or whole-foods store near you, they often carry beeswax. Of course, there are many places on the net to buy it, too.

I keep a couple of beehives in my backyard, and I use their ';homemade'; beeswax for lip balm mixing with coconut oil to get the right texture. Beeswax for candles will work great as long as it is clean and pure. If you don't know the quality or source, you might want to stick with wax that is labeled ';organic';.

What type of beeswax do i need to make lip balm?

....................................What type of beeswax do i need to make lip balm?
Beeswax is just the natural wax made by bees in the cell walls of honeycombs. What type of beeswax do i need to make lip balm?
por que no me dice la verdad de lo que sucede y dejas de estar ocultandose con la mentira

por que me enga帽as tanto por que lo haces
Use the kind that comes in sheets, it has sorta honeycomb shapes in it. If you get the big chunk of it you have to cut it up and it'll take longer to melt. The stuff in the sheet you can just rip off and drop it in, and it melts quick.
Africanized. Good luck with that.

there is only one kind of bees wax, it comes from bees, sometimes you can buy a jar of honey with beeswax in it, in the form of honeycomb, so that would give you flavored beeswax to start with, still you would want to drain most of the honey out of it , look at your local healthfood store for sources as well.
you will want to purchase beeswax that has been filtered to make sure there are no bee parts or dirt or other foreign objects in it.

you can do a search on yahoo or google for filtered beeswax, or check with area beekeepers to see if they sell filtered beeswax.

Lip balm recipies without beeswax?

Sorry, I looked and looked, but all the recipes contained beeswax. Unless you have a specific reason why you want to make your own lip balm, I'd suggest you try Kiehl's lip balm for babies. I LOVE lip balm. It would be that one item I'd take to a desert island. I've tried all kinds from cheap vaseline to super expensive brands, but the one I love most is Kiehl's baby lip balm. It's like vaseline...maybe it is...but it's so moisturizing, I usually only need to apply once a day.Lip balm recipies without beeswax?
The only ones I've heard of use Vaseline and flavouring such as cocoa powder and kool-aid. They just involve melting the Vaseline and then adding the cocoa powder or kool-aid, pouring into a container and letting it set. In my opinion, if you're going to do that, you might as well just use plain Vaseline, since technically, you're not really 'making' the lip balm.

If you are interested in making lipglosses as well (you can use it as lip balm as well), here is a site. The first recipe containts beeswax, but the other two don't.

i am located in brighton in england.

also i was wondering if there is away to make lip balm with natural produce like strawberries and rasberries.

i did hear once that you heat them and can use them but i cant remember no more of it.

please help greatly appreciated.Where can you get beeswax from to make lip balms?
Most craft stores sell bees wax, but I don't really know about how good that is for use in cosmetic products. Your best bet might be to look online for a seller. Many people sell supplies for craft projects like this, and you will most likely find the largest selection this way.

Try a local health food store for things like almond oil, wintergreen oil, coconut oil... these things are great for the skin and will give the balm a plesant smell and texture.

You can use things like fruit and vegitables to make coloring, but most of the time this ends up being water based anyhow. That also might effect the shelf life of your product, but I haven't actually done any research on this specific application of natural dyes.Where can you get beeswax from to make lip balms?
Try ebay.

Otherwise, if your area has a local honey producer (bee farm) you can get bees wax there.

A final resort would be to buy honey with the honey comb intact. It is made of pure bees wax.
your local apiary or google it and there are lots of options
BEESwax. The clue is in the title...
i got my beeswax from the hairdressers'. you'll have to go to one which does afro hair coz beeswax is used on dreads
try melting beeswax into a little olive or sunflower oil and letting it set in a jar...its very good as a lip balm and tastes like honey.

[grate the beeswax, you only need about an ounce to about 2 teaspoons of the oil] Get the beeswax at any farm where they sell their own honey. Or places like Holland and Barrett.
maybe you could go to the chemist. Or you could go to a shop called Lush you might have one near you. It makes homemade cosmetics from natural ingredients. You can smell it from a mile away and the Christmas stuff is really good if you need any inspiration for a present. But about the honey comb you could get if from a deli shop or try on eBay food and drink!!!!!!!! hope this helps Livy
I would go to a organic/all natural food store. But burt's bees also makes their own beeswax lip balm too. It's excellent. All their products are.
Try a local company that makes their own honey.I've found this link on how to make it too.

Which one is a really good, colorless lip balm (not chapstick) with beeswax, that I can get in department stores?Good lip balm with beeswax?
The line of products from Burt's Bees is really good. They have lip balm, lip gloss, hand/foot balm, lotion, etc. You can find them in any health store like GNC or I think a CVS. I also saw some of the products at a Harris Teeter. The most basic mint lip balm in a tube is about $3. A little pricey, but they are really good.
