Does using lip balm or chapstick on your lips make your lips stop making their own moisture?

The fact is, the lip can't breathe properly and it really does delete moisture. It is a good idea to use a thin film, that way the moisture will be there when needed.Does using lip balm or chapstick on your lips make your lips stop making their own moisture?
Thats correct

Its the common phenomenon, when you apply lots of moisturizing lotion it stops your skin to produce natural moisture.

Artificial application of anything reduces the natural processes

hope that helpsDoes using lip balm or chapstick on your lips make your lips stop making their own moisture?
I think only if you use it constantly. Allow your lips to breath on their own every now and then and you should be ok.
The best thing, or so I've heard, is to drink plenty of water to keep your lips hydrated. So, be prepared to make lots of trips to the toilet!
no
Your lips get accustomed to being covered with balm or not, or with lipstick or not. After you start using lipstick and stop, your lips have a period of adjustment when they are a bit dry.And when you stop using the lipsticks and balms, the lips get dry for awhile too. It's just an adjustment.

No.
No, No, No, who told you this. You can't believe everything you hear.
no
Not true, I use those during the dry months. If you go to high humidity places you'll never have to use those.
No. You just get used to having all that extra moisture. Your lips do not produce much moisture for themselves, so it is easy to get ';addicted'; to chapstick.
no they just miosten the top leyer of skin which is dead anyway
at times. these block the pores that moisturise the lips so you'll have to need repeated usage.
No, your body produces what it produces, adding a little extra does not tell it there is no longer a need.
Yes it can. I suggest when you have constant dry lips, try drinking lots of water. It helps ALOT!
